Ras al Khaimah’s newest dining option serves up a fitting tribute to Waldorf Astoria’s American heritage while taking its cues from the region’s ancient and rich culture

Ras Al Khaimah Resort

Guests are immersed in an ambience woven from the UAE’s ancient history and culture from the moment they walk through the doors of the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah.

While the external façade pays homage to Arabian palaces of old, the hotel lobby’s design is an altogether more modern interpretation of local tradition, with a design and palette derived from the centuries-old practice of pearl diving in the islands’ sparkling waters.

But it isn’t just the surrounding region that serves as inspiration for the sweeping spaces within the palatial Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah.

The hotel’s collection of restaurants and bars takes culinary cues from destinations far and wide, from teppanyaki and sushi at Japanese lounge UMI to Indian tandoori, European-Mediterranean and Asian cuisine at Qasr Al Bahar.

Le Diwan Lounge, Ras Al Khaimah, Waldorf Astoria

The recently revamped Le Diwan lounge is the newest addition to the hotel’s dining options and pays tribute to Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts’ American heritage.

Located directly above Peacock Alley, with views out towards the lobby’s grand chandeliers and marble fountain, the outlet is a modern Arabic adaptation of the traditional New York cigar lounge.

“Dedicated to serving traditional shisha, Turkish coffee, dates and GCC Arabic coffee, Le Diwan also offers cigars upon request and serves a variety of Cognac and whiskeys to accompany.

Many guests choose to begin their Arabic dining experience in Le Diwan before moving up to Middle-Eastern restaurant Marjan on the 16th floor.

However, Le Diwan’s array of authentic cold and hot mezzah, as well as camel ice cream, camel kofta and tea-based mocktails featuring UAE and Middle East spices, ensures that patrons return again and again, regardless of dinner plans.
