The first indoor ski resort in the Middle East, Ski Dubai is an indoor resort at the Mall of the Emirates that features an 279-foot high indoor mountain (about the size of a 25-story building).
To make the experience feel authentic, there’s a quad lift that takes skiers or snowboarders up the mountain to tackle five slopes of varying difficulties, including the world’s first indoor black diamond run.
Kids will love the play area for those looking to sled and toboggan down hills, throw a few snowballs, and even meet penguins through bookable encounters.
The attraction is only a 15-minute drive from the new Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre in the heart of the Downtown District, and 24 minutes from the pristine beach setting of Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah.
For those looking for other year-round alternatives, there’s Infinite Ski, not far from Ski Dubai, which enables skiers to carve lines through two rotating ski slopes.
And a new attraction for those looking for more powder will soon open at the city’s new Meydan One Mall, which will boast a 1km-long indoor slope.

BEIJING, CHINA
After you’ve explored Beijing’s mix of historical sites like the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, and modern marvels of architecture transforming China’s infinitely fascinating city from Waldorf Astoria Beijing, take a 15-minute drive to Beihai Park, which is known for its Qionghua Islet, Beihai Lake and White Pagoda.
Popular during the summer for its boating activities, the park transforms in the winter, attracting skiers. The site features the Circular Wall on the west side of the southern gate, which was part of the royal garden of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
For more options, there’s Snow World, a one-hour drive north from Waldorf Astoria Beijing, which is the nearest ski resort to the city center of Beijing. The resort also features easier runs perfect for tubing and sledding. It’s long been a popular spot for snow seekers, and is conveniently located on the golden tourist route linking the Ming Tombs, Juyongguan Great Wall and Badaling Great Wall.
An hour from Waldorf Astoria Beijing is Huaibei International Ski Resort, heralded as the most beautiful ski resort in Beijing. Positioned below the picturesque Ming-era Great Wall with 23 watch towers linked to the Mutianyu Great Wall, Huabei is the only ski resort in Beijing surrounded by the Great Wall on its three sides.
