Go behind-the-scenes of Waldorf Astoria Magazine’s California Sunday photo shoot at Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills where it’s always a beautiful day for guests, even celebrities, to enjoy a whirlwind of activities from photo shoots and fine dining to red carpet galas, all with a little help from a Personal Concierge.

As she spends the day at Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Wilhelmina model Devyn McGant relaxes in the morning by the pool on the hotel’s roof. She wears a Solid & Striped Michelle scoopback one-piece swimsuit from Barneys, Eugenia Kim Veruschka oversized sunhat and Le Specs sunglasses.

In the afternoon, she learns how to make and mix cocktails like the Cucumber Martini and Kumquat Mojito at the Jean-Georges Beverly Hills Bar.

For the private mixology class, she sparkles in a Dolce & Gabbana dress and vintage Beladora platinum pearl necklace by David Webb.

Where to Eat

For lunch, Devyn wears a lilac bow blouse by Alexander McQueen from Neiman Marcus, plus Graff earrings and bracelet, as she dines on Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s signature avocado carpaccio pizza at Jean-Georges Beverly Hills.

The dish is a playful answer to avocado toast, part of a menu that celebrates the award-winning chef’s finest dishes from his restaurant in New York City.

So Many Choices

Below, Devyn tries on a selection of gowns after a busy day of shopping at popular luxury retail centers like the Westfield Century City, The Grove, Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade and Beverly Hills’ iconic Rodeo Drive (get more details on those venues below).

Conceived by interior design legend Pierre-Yves Rochon, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills offers over-sized guest rooms featuring state-of-the-art technology, floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies.

Each room is styled with elegant touches like warm white stone, rich wood and picture-perfect views of Beverly Hills.

To get ready for the evening, Devyn reserves the Hollywood Suite, which offers a large walk-in closet with enough room to store outfits for every occasion. The suite’s grand bathroom features grand Italian marble.

Her selections for the night’s celebrations include a Carolina Herrera purple tulle dress with black polka dot hearts from Neiman Marcus, Jimmy Choo silver galactica pumps, Anabela Chan diamond bauble earrings and Harry Kotlar necklace.

A stunner is the red Winnie Couture strapless sweetheart mermaid flamenco dress with ruffled bottom, Jimmy Choo white satin sandals with all over pearls, Harry Kotlar earrings and bracelet, and ring by Djula.

Other choices include a Roger Vivier pink bag, navy and pink shoes, and a stunning custom Maria Lucia Hohan gold dress, perfect for any glamorous Hollywood party.

Before heading out for the evening, Devyn takes in superior views of Beverly Hills and Los Angeles from the suite’s private terrace.

Where to Shop

Many of the items Devyn wears in the photo shoot come from Los Angeles’ best shopping destinations located just minutes from Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.

Westfield Century City

A short four-minute drive from Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, the recently renovated Westfield Century City has long been one of Los Angeles’ more upscale shopping destinations offering high-end luxury brands and elevated dining options for any kind of shopper.

The $1 billion in updates to the venue have only helped make it a desirable destination with new additions like Eataly L.A., popular Taiwanese eatery Din Tai Fung and Japan’s Bake Cheese Tart shop, its first location in the United States.

Rodeo Drive

The world’s most famous street is just five minutes from Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.

The three blocks of more than 100 stores and restaurants that make up Rodeo Drive’s epicenter, include flagship stores for Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. It has recently added exclusive experiences like a Louis Vuitton X pop-up exhibition and shop, extended shopping hours, live music and art events.

Beverly Center

Just like the Westfield Century City, the famed Los Angeles retail hot spot Beverly Center received a $500 million upgrade, which has injected a bit more luxury into the shopping complex — even adding firepits with seating — and greatly enhanced its dining options. What was once a dimly lit mall is now a brighter, airy experience, the perfect atmosphere for some retail therapy.

The Grove

You can’t help but think of a theme park for adults when you walk the elegantly designed streets of The Grove, a retail and entertainment complex that’s located on parts of Los Angeles’ historic Farmers Market.

Anchored by Nordstrom and Pacific Theatres, one of the country’s most popular movie theaters, The Grove also includes outlets for Michael Kors, an American Girl Place, and a restaurant from Dominique Ansel, the founder of the Cronut.

Third Street Promenade

If you’re looking for some retail therapy before or after visiting the beach and iconic pier in Santa Monica, you’ll want to explore the Third Street Promenade. As an al fresco shopping experience in the heart of downtown Santa Monica, the car-free avenue is a perfect pedestrian- and pet-friendly place to shop, eat and people-watch in the California sun.
